“THE FUTURE LEADERS”

In an internship course, my classmates and I worked with non-profit organizations near us to solve any problems they needed help with. The Future Leaders is a group that is sponsored by The Salvation Army. After school, kids ages 6-13 could come to hangout and do homework together and create a safe space for them.

The Goal: Using my skills, I came up with a new logo in which the staff can wear on apparel items for a more professional approach while my classmates worked on logos that could be used to target the younger demographic.

THE PROCESS

While Creating this logo, I created a variety of logos to give the client options of which they would like to use. I played around with color and found that red was the option I wanted to go with. The Salvation Army logo is red so incorporating that feature in the staff logo was a good choice for the final product.

DESIGN CHOICES

While coming up with the design may seem like the easiest step, people forget it needs a purpose. I chose to make the letters touch each other as the client expressed that the kids who come are like one big family. Making the letters touch resembles a community coming together. There is a space between the F and the L to almost show as if there is room to grow since the kids are “the future leaders” in this case. The middle letter is the only red one since it is in the middle and helps to create a focal point to the logo.
